Gear Up for School is a backpack drive that brings together people of all ages in the community to provide fully supplied backpacks for students at the start of each school year across NH. Backpack recipients include children in NH's Foster Care Program, Multiple Districts, and local non-profits. The Manchester, Queen City-Manchester, and Hooksett Area Rotary Clubs organize the drive annually in partnership with Granite United Way and Southern New Hampshire University.
Youth help pack backpacks that other kids receive, inspiring volunteering and community service from a young age. We purchase supplies in bulk that over 100 volunteers use to assemble thousands of supplied backpacks during our two-day event. Then, representatives from each organization distribute them accordingly.
